Membership

Our sense of belonging to a church family comes from our decision to make a heart investment.  This decision leads us to connect with the life of the Church, and to find ways to serve with its mission. Throughout the New Testament, believers identified themselves with a specific local body. That became the community which facilitated their growth as a follower of Jesus and their support of each other in mission.

We believe membership strengthens that sense of belonging and helps us to find that stable centre for growth and service. Your decision to become a member signals to the Gateway family your desire to belong and to contribute. In this way, Membership benefits both the Church and you as an individual.

If you’ve committed your life to following Jesus and have  publicly declared this in baptism, we invite you to become a member of Gateway Baptist Church.

As a member, you are committing to:

· Support Gateway’s Core Values, Vision and Mission Statements, along with the Church Leadership and the Pastoral Team

· Be involved in a small group where ongoing life change happens

· Find a place where you can use your God given gifts to serve others

· Celebrate regularly with the gathered Gateway family

· Sharing Jesus with the people you interact with in everyday life

· Give financially to support the Vision, Values and Mission of the church

· Attend church business meetings to vote on major decisions

A person may be invited into, or request membership at any time.

Two or three Sundays will be set aside through the year for new members

to be acknowledged.

NB:  This commitment is a guide. We recognize that there are seasons of life when it is not possible to be as involved as we may wish to be.
